Personal PhotographyI started taking photographs in my early teens using a 35ml camera and discovered quite early on that persistence, patience and determination would be needed to get the ‘shot’. For example I had an idea to shoot the cross section of an onion, to see the symmetry. Little did I know that it would take 200 onions to find the perfect one. My series of three pictures of Sydney was spread over 5 days, making sure that the 5/4 went back into exactly the right position. Then the waiting game began for the right conditions, this included a moment in time with no ferries entering and leaving Sydney harbour, as I was shooting a long exposure and did not want any streaks of light coming from the onboard lights of the ferries. I will use any camera be it digital or film to get the shot and currently, I am using a Hasselblad Xpan, which is a 35ml panoramic camera using film, a relatively easy camera to carry around, an example of this is the mountain scene. I am also using my 5x4, with Fuji Colour Quickload and black & white film, an example of this the London Eye with the Jubilee Bridge, quite simply a beautiful pedestrian bridge especially when seen at night. And I have started using a Nikon digital 35ml which is a great camera for those quick shots. |
