Still Life PhotographyAn essential ingredient when shooting still life is patience, persistence and determination. To achieve the shot each element needs to be perfect, that is the lighting, composition and technique. For example the ink shot, I knew the shape of the splashes that I was looking for, therefore I brought in Giles Hayter a local artist who specialises in experimental paintings. We both really enjoyed the challenge and litres of ink later I achieved the look I wanted! In recent years new clients have been looking for images to be posted on the Web. This for many businesses is now the new shop window and the customer wants to see the product accurately including colour and dimension. I have worked relentlessly to adapt my lighting technique for this specialized work and have taken pride in my results. The digital age’s flexibility has certainly enabled the photograph to achieve almost anything that the client requires. My recent work has been used in many areas of still life photography including shooting for a cutout product shot for the web, to brochures, catalogues, editorial, packshots, packaging and advertising. |
